On March 15, during the regular sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security the bill on Making Amendment and Addendum to the RA Law on Military Service and Serviceman’s Status authored by the Bright Armenia Faction was debated in the first reading.

In this phase the Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan proposed to remain abstained from the amendment, giving an opportunity to touch upon the problem more completely.

The co-rapporteur Armen Khachatryan presented the international experience.

The Committee Chair Andranik Kocharyan proposed to postpone the debate of the draft law for one month, giving time to the Government to present more complete amendments.

The key rapporteur did not accept the Committee Chair’s proposal. The item was put for voting and received negative conclusion.
